Recruiter Profile - Gina Williams

GinaWilliams

I work on the Global HRIS team as a Senior Human Resources Systems Analyst primarily supporting the Recruiting, Performance, Development, Succession, Analytics and Onboarding systems.  A large part of my job is being the conduit/interpreter/troubleshooter between CRH employees, managers and applicants and the IT world.  I make sure that our processes enable people to get their jobs done in the best and most effective ways possible, issues get resolved quickly and people have the training and support they need.

When did you join CRH?
June 2014

Where is your job located?
My office is located in Rochester, New York. I sit in the Corporate Recruiting Center.  The rest of my team is scattered between Rochester, Atlanta, Belgium and the Netherlands.  I also work closely with talent management leaders at our corporate office in Ireland.

What do you like about working here?
I love the friendly, caring, collaborative culture of CRH.   People here are very supportive of one another, and they know how to have fun.  There is a culture of learning and high expectations which I truly appreciate. I also enjoy the global aspects of the company, which allows me to work with people in different parts of the world and learn new perspectives on how business operates outside the US.

What are the best parts of your job?
I am the type of person who loves to figure things out!  When you are dealing with a lot of systems, particularly at a company as large as CRH, you are constantly trying to find ways to make the systems work better for everyone. I get to do that every day!  Many of my “great ideas” come from the people that I talk to every day.  You learn a lot by working with diverse groups of people to come up with great solutions that have an impact.

What would your co-workers say about you?
They would say I love music, laughing, having fun, am friendly and sometimes a bit too much of a morning person. They would also probably say that I’m always available to listen, help and figure things out.

Do you have any funny or interesting work stories to share?
When I was at my last employer, one of my co-workers gave me a “Dundee Award” for Christmas.  If you don’t know what a Dundee is, it is an Annual award that was given away on the show “The Office.”  When I started working here, we started passing it around the office whenever someone did something that required recognition.  The goal of the Dundee is to never sit too long on one person’s desk, because it is supposed to be passed!  Note to my co-workers – if it’s on your desk right now, pass it on!

Just for fun, we want to know – what was your first job ever?
I worked as a cashier at a local grocery store called “Star Market.”  One of the best parts of that job for me was that my grandmother was also a cashier there and we could work side by side.  My grandma is now 100 years old, but we still joke about how much fun we used to have working together. Star Market was also the first local grocery store to sell “generic” products in white and black packaging. How yummy do you think the 99 cent generic beer was?

Do you have any hobbies?
I love traveling, making jewelry, boating, fishing and hanging out with friends and family at our cottage in the Finger Lakes region of New York. I enjoy taking pictures of sunsets, sunrises and rainbows, although I am not that great at it.  Every year on our lake on July 3rd there are huge parties for the “Ring of Fire” and fireworks displays that circle the lake. It’s chaotic and so much fun.

Tell us about your family.
I have a great husband, Pat, who I have been with since high school. We have been married 33 years! We have two boys, Chris and Brian.  We have a lot of fun together as a family.
